Financial Struggles Hinder Charity Digital Progress, GoodCall’s latest Impact Report shows

New findings highlight the urgent need for affordable solutions to bridge the digital divide for non-profits.

DUNDEE, SCOTLAND – GoodCall, a Dundee-based social enterprise, today announced the release of its 2024-2025 Impact Report, shedding light on the challenges UK non-profits face in the digital landscape. The report reveals that 75% of charities identified a lack of funding or financial resources as the primary barrier to acquiring essential digital tools, with 60% struggling due to limited staff or volunteer capacity and 57% citing a lack of internal expertise to manage digital solutions.

These findings highlight a critical digital divide, where financial constraints and capacity issues prevent non-profits from implementing cost-saving and impactful digital solutions. Despite this, 73% of respondents described digital technology as “extremely important” to their operations, reflecting its growing necessity for service delivery and outreach.

Kate Masson, Chief Executive Officer of GoodCall, emphasised the urgency:

“Digital technology is no longer optional—it’s essential for charities to connect, operate effectively, and deliver impact. Yet financial strain and lack of expertise prevent many non-profits from realising their full potential. At GoodCall, we aim to bridge this gap with affordable, ethical solutions tailored to their needs.

GoodCall provides non-profits with cost-effective mobile solutions, enabling them to save money, improve connectivity, and streamline their operations. According to the report, 96% of organisations said GoodCall successfully met their mobile hardware and contract needs, while 65% saw reduced costs, enabling them to reinvest savings into their core missions.

Elaine Gray, Charity Engagement Manager at GoodCall, highlighted the impact:

“Our services empower non-profits to focus on their missions without worrying about digital barriers. By offering tailored solutions and ongoing support, we ensure organisations can access the tools they need while saving money and boosting efficiency.”

The 2024-2025 Impact Report also highlights GoodCall’s success stories, including collaborations with organisations like The Prince’s Trust and The Archie Foundation, which saw improvements in cost management, connectivity, and service delivery.

Call to Action:

GoodCall urges funders, policymakers, and technology providers to invest in affordable digital solutions, support skills development, and focus on empowering small organisations.

“Let’s work together to bridge the digital divide and ensure every non-profit has the tools to thrive,” the report concludes.
