New findings reveal funding and capacity challenges are limiting digital advancement across the UK third sector.
Dundee, UK – GoodCall, a UK social enterprise supporting charities and non-profits with affordable telecoms solutions, has released its 2025/26 Impact Report, highlighting ongoing financial barriers preventing organisations from improving their digital capabilities.
The report finds that nearly 90% of organisations consider digital technology essential to their day-to-day operations, yet 78.6% cite lack of funding as the biggest barrier to progress, alongside high costs and limited internal expertise. These challenges continue to restrict organisations’ ability to adopt and fully utilise digital tools, despite increasing demand for digitally delivered services.
Elaine Gray, General Manager at GoodCall, said:
“Charities are being asked to deliver more digitally, often with limited resources. Accessible, affordable communication tools are essential to helping organisations continue supporting their communities.”
Demand for affordable and reliable communication solutions continues to grow. Over the past year, GoodCall welcomed 53 new organisations and doubled the number of mobile line upgrades, reflecting increasing pressure on charities to operate efficiently in an increasingly digital environment.
GoodCall also delivered significant upgrades and enhanced support to a range of organisations, including Inclusion Glasgow, The King’s Trust, PKAVS (Perth and Kinross Association of Voluntary Service), Yorkshire Cancer Research, Volunteer Centre Edinburgh and Step One, helping them improve connectivity, flexibility and operational efficiency.
Over 80% of organisations reported reduced communication costs, with all partners confirming their needs were met and contributing to a Net Promoter Score of +82. Organisations also reported improved service delivery, with partners such as West of Scotland Housing Association and Volunteering Matters highlighting the role of mobile technology in enabling faster response times, flexible working, and more effective support in communities. These improvements allow organisations to better coordinate teams, respond to service users more quickly, and deliver support more reliably.
Elaine Gray, General Manager at GoodCall, added:
“When organisations have access to the right communication tools, the difference is immediate; teams feel more confident, more connected, and better equipped to support the people who rely on them. Looking ahead, it’s vital that we continue to break down digital barriers so charities can focus on what truly matters: delivering meaningful impact in their communities.”
